  • Proceed safely to the nearest exit
  • Do not use elevators
  • If it is safe to do so, assist people who are unable to evacuate on their own
  • Exit the building and stay clear of the area
  • Wait for the “all clear”

SHELTER-IN-PLACE

If an unsafe situation occurs OUTSIDE your building:

Examples: tornado, earthquake, outdoor hazardous materials spill

  • Move to an interior space, away from windows
  • For severe weather, move to the lowest floor possible
  • If it is safe to do so, assist people who are unable to shelter on their own
  • Wait for the “all clear”

RUN, HIDE, FIGHT

If an active shooter or violent intruder situation occurs:

  • RUN: if you are able to do so safely, get away from the attacker.
  • HIDE: if you can’t run away, shelter-in-place (close and lock all windows and doors and silence all electronics).
  • FIGHT: If you can’t run or hide, and as a last resort, attempt to counter attacker using any means available.
