Departments, Labs, and Centers
To ensure the Institute’s assets are protected and that its operations can continue, MIT Emergency Management assists with or provides preparedness services to Departments, Labs, and Centers (DLCs).
Emergency Preparedness Plans (EPPs)
In order to uphold the highest standards for workplace health, safety, and accessibility for people with disabilities, MIT Emergency Management works with DLCs to develop emergency preparedness plans (EPPs). These plans encompass evacuation information, personal protective actions, and accountability information that is specific to the DLC.
To ensure that mission-critical work at MIT continues, MIT Emergency Management collaborates with DLCs to develop continuity plans. The goal of a continuity plan is to ensure that essential functions can continue during an emergency or are restored quickly after a disruption.
Drills and Exercises
To ensure that EPPs, continuity plans, and other related procedures work as expected, MIT Emergency Management oversees drills and exercises for DLCs. This includes creating, conducting, evaluating, and observing table-top, functional, or full-scale exercises.
Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs)
MIT Emergency Management coordinates the purchase, installation, and maintenance of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) for DLCs and public areas on campus.
