MIT COOL SPOTS

The Boston / Cambridge area has been experiencing more frequent periods of extreme heat earlier in the summer and later into the fall. With some buildings on campus lacking air conditioning, it may be tough for MIT community members to stay cool on hot days. This is why we’ve established Cool Spots on campus – air conditioned locations you can go to hang out, stay cool, and partake in the activities each location has to offer. These locations are open to the general public and welcome you during their hours of operation.

MIT Museum

Located at 314 Main Street and open daily from 10am-5pm, excluding some holidays. Tour the Museum and see all of its current exhibits. Free admission for MIT ID holders, Cambridge residents (with registration), and others. More information about hours and admission costs here

MIT Welcome Center

Located at 292 Main Street and open Monday through Friday from 9am-5pm, excluding MIT holidays and Institute closures. Come in to find more information about MIT or sit and take a break or have a meal in the lobby.

MIT Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research

Located at 500 Main Street. Visit KI’s public galleries on the ground floor Monday through Friday from 8am-6pm, excluding MIT holidays and Institute closures.
